Thanks in part to a cooperative winter, construction on the Thomas P. Joyce ’59 Contemplative Center is moving along swiftly and steadily.
Concrete footings, steel wall bracings, and wooden frames have brought the project’s architectural concepts to fruition. According to John Lapomardo, assistant director for engineering and utilities at Holy Cross, a good portion of the structure has been completed, including septic, plumbing, concrete floors, elevator masonry shaft, and wood framing.
Located less than 20 minutes from campus, adjacent to a conservation area, the contemplative center will allow Holy Cross to expand retreat opportunities for students while also providing new programs for faculty, staff, and alumni.
The anticipated completion date is scheduled for August 2016.
