With a phenomenal record of 24-2-1, the Holy Cross women’s ice hockey team has marked their most successful season to date and claim the best record of any team on campus this year. In addition to being crowned the 2008-2009 ECAC Open Champions, the team has the highest scoring line in the league, the best penalty kill percentage in the league, and all three goalies have a save percentage of more than 90 percent.
The women could not be happier with all of their unexpected accomplishments this season and are thankful for the increased recognition they have gained from both school and local news outlets.
“I could not have imagined we would be this successful,” said top scorer Jocelyn Kratchmer ’11. “I think one of the biggest contributing factors to our team’s success is how dedicated we all are to our team.”
Coach Peter Van Buskirk echoed the sentiment.
“The win-loss record is 50 percent of what is important. The other 50 percent is the attitude, leadership and ‘hungry spirit’ the girls consistently brought to the rink.”
