Holy Cross has selected Peter Stamoulis ’26 to deliver the class of 2026 valedictory address at commencement on May 22 at the DCU Center in Worcester.
A Worcester native, Stamoulis is a classics major who has distinguished himself through academic excellence, service to the Worcester community and leadership rooted in the College’s Jesuit mission. He is a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society, the national honor society recognizing students who demonstrate scholarship, loyalty and service.
Stamoulis’ time at Holy Cross has been deeply shaped by Community-Based Learning (CBL). Over four years, he completed eight courses with a CBL component, engaging extensively with the Worcester community. His work included partnerships with organizations such as Mustard Seed Catholic Worker, where he spent the summer of 2023 helping lead a summer school program for ESL learners, refugee students and neighborhood children in the city’s Piedmont area.
Through CBL, Stamoulis also volunteered at local soup kitchens, taught in Worcester Public Schools, led educational programming at the Worcester Art Museum and participated in environmental cleanup efforts along the Blackstone River, as well as a music class at the Worcester County Jail.
Service to the city has been a defining feature of Stamoulis’ Holy Cross experience. He served all four years on the executive board of Working for Worcester, a nonprofit dedicated to mobilizing college students to improve recreation infrastructure and opportunities within neighborhoods across the city, contributing to site development, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. His commitment extended even while studying abroad, returning to Worcester to participate in the organization’s annual Build Day.
Stamoulis has also pursued academic and cultural engagement beyond campus. In the summer of 2024, he was selected for the prestigious Critical Language Scholarship through the United States Department of State, studying Turkish in Ankara. He later spent his junior year abroad at the University of Oxford in England.
On campus, Stamoulis co-founded the Hellenic Society, a recognized student organization and multicultural group dedicated to promoting Hellenic culture and fostering dialogue within the Holy Cross community. He currently serves as co-president.
Stamoulis attended Saint John's High School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Following graduation from Holy Cross, he plans to pursue a Fulbright scholarship in Cyprus.
