The inauguration of Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., as 32nd president of Holy Cross on Sept. 14 marked the beginning of the latest chapter in the College’s storied history.
It also brought out the sense of pride that so many people have for this exclusively undergraduate, Jesuit liberal arts college in Worcester, Mass. — a sense of pride that was evident in the beaming students ready and eager to officially welcome their new president; in the hundreds who participated in the Mass for Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in St. Joseph Memorial Chapel; in the faculty members who, at the Inauguration Faculty Symposium, presented ideas to move the College to even greater heights; in the hundreds of delegates from colleges and universities across the country; and in the warm greetings offered up by dignitaries, fellow college presidents, Jesuit provincials, faculty, staff, students, and alumni during the installation ceremony.
