Another 16 members of the class will serve as volunteers through Jesuit Volunteer Corps and Jesuit Volunteers International, bringing the total number of recent graduates who will serve as Jesuit Volunteers to 26.
Since 2006, Jesuit Volunteers Corps Northwest has operated independently from the other corps.
Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest engages women and men in a transforming experience of full-time volunteer service. Jesuit Volunteers work for a year or more in solidarity with persons living on the margins of society in culturally diverse communities, with Native American, Native Alaskan and rural Hispanic people in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Holy Cross graduates will join other JVC Northwest volunteers in schools, churches, and community organizations, addressing issues surrounding poverty, medical and legal assistance, homelessness, addiction and mental illness in rural and urban settings.
Rooted for more than 50 years in the Jesuit Catholic tradition emphasizing spiritual openness and depth, Jesuit Volunteers in the Northwest examine and act on the causes of social and environmental injustice to promote peace and structural change. Jesuit Volunteers live in communities that commit to simple living embodying a healing and sustainable presence on the Earth.
