After earning one of the highest CPA Exam scores in the country, recent College of the Holy Cross graduate Alexander Khan ’16 received the 2016 Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Khan is among 58 candidates, out of the 102,323 who completed the testing in 2016, who obtained a cumulative average score above 90.5 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination and passed all four sections of the exam on their first attempt.
Khan, who is currently working at Deloitte & Touche, LLP in New York, was an economics and accounting major at the College.
“The Department of Economics and Accounting and the accounting faculty are proud of Alex's accomplishments,” says Karen Teitel, associate professor of accounting, who taught Alex while he was a student at Holy Cross. “The accounting major is a small and rigorous program in which the faculty work closely with the students to help them achieve academic success at the College and prepare them to meet and attain their personal and professional goals once they leave the College. The graduates from the accounting major are in high demand not only in public accounting but also in finance and management training programs. The combination of the accounting major and the liberal arts education positions our students for success in whatever career path they choose."
