Three Holy Cross alumni share why they take on the Pan-Mass Challenge to support cancer research funding.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, Holy Cross served as the starting line for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) for the first time. As the world’s single most successful athletic fundraiser, the PMC has raised over $1.047 billion since 1980 to support lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Ahead of this year's ride, three Holy Cross alumni shared their stories about why they ride.

  • Rich Carr '89, two-time cancer survivor, 20th PMC ride
  • Grace Doherty '26, first PMC ride
  • David Fisher, M.D. '83, oncologist at Dana-Farber, 24th PMC ride
