Five different skaters found the back of the net as eight different Crusaders registered at least one point as the Holy Cross men's hockey team downed Army, 5-2, to sweep a best two-out-three Atlantic Hockey Tournament first round series on Saturday evening at the Hart Center.
The Crusaders won the first game of the series by a 3-2 score on Friday. With the win, the No. 5 seeded Crusaders improve to 19-13-4 overall, while the No. 12 seeded Black Knights conclude their season 4-23-7 overall.
The Crusaders went 5-0-0 versus the Black Knights this season including a sweep of the three-game regular season series. The Crusaders are now 9-0-1 in their last 10 games as they have outscored their opponents by a 45-17 margin. Their 10-game unbeaten streak is tied for the second longest in school history and is the second longest current streak in the nation. The Crusaders' 19 overall wins are their most since winning 27 in 2005-2006.
Holy Cross will play at No. 4 seed Mercyhurst in a best two-out-of-three quarterfinal series on March 9-11.
