WORCESTER, Mass. – Sean Kearney has been named the 15th head coach of the College of the Holy Cross men’s basketball team. The announcement was made Richard M. Regan, Jr. ’76, director of athletics. Kearney succeeds Ralph Willard ’67, who served as head coach for 10 years before resigning last month to become assistant coach at the University of Louisville.
Kearney, 49, has spent the last nine years as associate head coach at the University of Notre Dame. Before that, he was an assistant at the University of Delaware for nine seasons.
The Holy Cross post will be Kearney's first collegiate head coaching position.
Kearney is a 1981 graduate of the University of Scranton, where he was a four-year member of the basketball team.
