WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross Alternate College Theater presents Rumors, a hilarious farce by the comic mainstay of American theatre, Neil Simon, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 2 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. in Fenwick Theatre at the College of the Holy Cross. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $7 for members of the Holy Cross community.
The play is about four couples who congregate to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of two of their circle. Upon arrival at the honored couple’s house, they find the husband bleeding, the wife missing, the maid gone, and no evident party preparations. As each pair arrives at the house, the friends react to the situation and try to sort things out before the police arrive. It’s an evening of laughs, chaos, and just a little bit of mayhem.
The Alternate College Theater is a student organization at Holy Cross. In each production, students manage every aspect from directing and acting to lighting and set design. For the production of Rumors, Dan Cabrera ’07 directs. Other members of the production staff include lighting designer Pat Gavin ’07, costume designer Katherine Fritz ’08, set designer Mary Beth Cotty ’09, and stage manager Mary Crowley ’08.
Rumors is suitable for all audiences.
