The Holy Cross Alternate College Theater Presents Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy

WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross Alternate College Theater (ACT) presents Beyond Therapy, a hilarious farce by the preeminent American comic playwright, Christopher Durang. The student-run production will be performed Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. and matinées will be held on Dec. 1 and 2 at 2 p.m. in Fenwick Theater, located on the second floor of O’Kane Hall. Tickets are $7 for members of the Holy Cross community and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be reserved by calling the ACT box office at (508)-793-3536 or purchased Zaptix.

Set in Manhattan during the early 1980s, Beyond Therapy tells the story of the naive and compassionate Prudence as she navigates the singles scene with the help of her chauvinist therapist, Stuart. When Prudence answers Bruce's zany personal ad, her world is thrown into a tailspin of crying, love triangles, guns, and inept therapists.  It’s pretty much life as usual, but through the skewed sensibilities of the brilliant Durang.

The Alternate College Theater is a student organization at Holy Cross. For each production, students manage every aspect, from directing and acting to set and costume design. Matthew Brown '08 is the director of Beyond Therapy.  Other members of the production staff include lighting designer Sean Doocey ’10, costume designer Katherine Fritz ’08, set designer Rob Mack (technical director for the department of theatre), and stage manager Kathleen Quinlan ’08.
