The department of economics will sponsor a career night on March 15 at 7 p.m. in Rehm Library featuring four successful alumni in the field of economics. Some of the areas and activities that will be discussed by members of this year’s Economics Career Panel include finance, human resources, health care, banking, consulting and MBAs. Students from all majors and classes are invited.
The following alumni will be present.
Janet Hourihan Brooks ’86, workers’ compensation manager, Wyman-Gordon. Brooks has served as human resources manager at Wyman-Gordon and before that at Staples. She has been involved in the full array of personnel issues, including recruitment, benefits, training and labor relations. With Lynch, Ryan & Associates she provided consulting services to Fortune 500 companies on workers’ compensation. While at Holy Cross, she was a major figure in women’s basketball.
Michael D. Irons ’89, director of Operations, FundQuest, Incorporated. At FundQuest, Irons helps oversee the management of more than $11 billion of assets. Previously, he worked at Scudder Investment Services, where he headed up the trading and reconciliations groups, and at Allmerica Financial, where he was involved with trusts and 401k’s.
Richard M. Mynahan ’93, vice president, Leerink Swann/MEDACorp. Mynahan helps to provide management consulting and investment banking services for companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical devices industries. Prior to Leerink Swann, he worked in positions related to health care and finance at Strategic Decision Group, Arthur D. Little, and Fleet Bank. Rich earned his MBA from Cornell University.
Claire Dumouchel Shield ’96, financial analyst, Fidelity Investments. Dumouchel has been with Fidelity since 1997. She began in fund accounting before moving into finance, where she now supports the implementations group within Fidelity Human Resources Services. She earned her MBA from Boston College.
