College community invited to sample food from Shrewsbury Street restaurants

Taste of the City

The Colleges of Worcester Consortium and the Shrewsbury Street Merchants’ Association have teamed up for an event that’s sure to get mouths watering.

The Taste of Shrewsbury Street College Shuffle, based on the successful Taste of Shrewsbury Street event held each June, will give the Holy Cross community a chance to sample the offerings of more than 20 restaurants along Worcester’s Restaurant Row.

The event will be on Sept. 1 from noon to 5 p.m. The event is geared to college students, faculty, administration, staff and their families. Consortium folks say the $10 fee per person is a huge bargain for all the food that will be available to sample — not to mention the entertainment that will follow. From 3 to 5 p.m., bands will perform at Cristoforo Colombo Park.

Students can purchase buttons in the Student Program and Involvement office, Hogan 229. Faculty and administration can purchase buttons in Human Resources, O’Kane 72. Buttons will also be available on Shrewsbury Street the day of the event at Brew City, East Park and Flying Rhino.

Transportation will be provided, with a bus leaving from Hogan Campus Center at: 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30, and 4:30 p.m. Returning to campus, the bus will depart from the DCU Credit Union on Shrewsbury Street at: 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m.
