Three members of the Holy Cross community are indebted to recent advances in the treatment of cancer. In a video, two professors and an administrator share their personal tales.
Alice Laffey, associate professor of religious studies, was diagnosed with uterine cancer earlier this year. Laparoscopic surgery enabled her to resume her life fairly quickly, with nary a complication.
Frederick Murphy, professor of religious studies, suffers from multiple myeloma, an incurable but treatable disease. Medical breakthroughs have allowed him to carry on with his life.
After months of treatment, Ann Zelesky, associate athletic director, recently beat breast cancer with a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
They are encouraging students, faculty and staff to join the thousands of people from Central Massachusetts on Sept. 13 for the 11th annual Walk to Cure Cancer.
Also in the video, three seniors โ Cristina Domestico, Isabelle Jenkins, and Amanda Tramutola โ explain why they hope to see you at the Walk this year.
