Two Scholars to Debate ‘Historical Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus’ at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – William Lane Craig, research professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, Calif., and Bart D. Ehrman, James A. Gray distinguished professor and chair of the department of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will debate the question, "Is There Historical Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus?" on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom at the College of the Holy Cross. Craig and Ehrman will discuss the status of the Christian claim to Jesus’ resurrection from the perspective of historical data. The event, free and open to the public, will be followed with a question-and-answer session. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Craig has participated in public debates on topics including Jesus’ resurrection and the existence of God, several of which have been published in hard copy. He is the author of numerous books and articles on the relationship of science and theology.

Ehrman has published extensively in the fields of New Testament and Early Christianity, having written or edited 13 books, including a study of the historical Jesus as an apocalyptic prophet, numerous articles, and dozens of book reviews.
