"Social Studies: Online networks are campus lures"

Telegram & Gazette

In an article surveying the ways colleges and universities in Worcester are using social media to connect with prospective students, Christian R. Santillo, assistant director of public affairs for web communications, weighs in on how Holy Cross analyzes data from the sites to improve communications .  “We're using analytics to look at what's clicked on from Facebook and Twitter to determine what kind of content our audience is looking for,” he told the reporter.

Although the majority of the 992 followers of the Holy Cross main Twitter account are alumni, Facebook pages and tweets are becoming increasingly important in marketing universities.  Santillo  says that the frequency of posts and tweets is critical to keep followers connected to a steady stream of videos and news articles about the school.

At Holy Cross, students are reminded of the many ways they can connect with the College online through new admissions publications which include links to social media as well as web video and audio stories.
