In an article for The Conversation, Joanne Pierce, professor of religious studies at Holy Cross and an expert in medieval liturgy, traces the complicated history of the different religions in the UK and the monarch’s efforts to foster tolerance and interfaith dialogue.
“There is little doubt that during his reign, King Charles III will continue to build on the foundation of toleration and dialogue laid down firmly by his mother. Modern Britain is a nation of many faiths, and a contemporary monarch will need to ensure that each of them is vigorously defended and warmly celebrated,” says Pierce.
