WORCESTER, Mass. – James L. David Smith, professor of conservation biology at the University of Minnesota, will give a talk titled "Tigers, Landscape, People: Can Extinction Be Averted?" on March 20 at 4:15 p.m. in the Rehm Library at the College of the Holy Cross. The talk is free and open to the public.
Smith is one of the world’s leading authorities on tigers. Since 1978, he has conducted field research on Bengal tigers and other wild cats in every country of South and Southeast Asia. His work has been featured in major magazines and documentary films. Smith’s recent work has focused on conservation and the possibility of linking community development to the preservation of forest habitats where tiger populations can survive.
The lecture is sponsored by the environmental studies concentration.
