Princeton Review Ranks Holy Cross Among the Top 'Colleges That Pay You Back'

The College of the Holy Cross is one of the nation"s best colleges for students seeking great academics, outstanding career preparation, and generous financial aid – according to The Princeton Review. The publication profiled the College as one of 200 schools in its new book “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Best Value Colleges and What It Takes to Get In.”

“It’s the professors that make students’ four years at Holy Cross an extraordinary value. The emphasis here is on teaching and learning, not research,” an enthused freshman told the Princeton Review.

The Princeton Review writes, “Holy Cross has a top-notch Career Planning Center and Summer Internship Program that connect students with alumni working in business, government, media, medicine, law, public policy, research, and many other fields. In fact, the alumni network at Holy Cross is legendary for its willingness to mentor and assist students and graduates throughout their careers. Opportunities such as academic internships, community-based learning courses, a prestigious Washington semester, and experiences through study abroad and immersion trips also provide students with invaluable “real-world” experience. Holy Cross has extensive summer internship and study abroad opportunities.”

The publication also highlights the College’s generous financial aid policy:  “No student or family should be dissuaded from applying to Holy Cross because of the price tag. Holy Cross is need-blind in its admissions policy, which means the decision to admit students to this highly selective liberal arts college is made without regard to a student’s ability to pay."

According to the Princeton Review, they developed a unique "Return-on-Education" (ROE) rating. ROE measures 40 weighted data points – everything from academics, cost, financial aid, and student debt to statistics on graduation rates, alumni salaries and job satisfaction. The Company based its ROE rating on it data collected in 2013-14 from its surveys of administrators and students at 650 colleges, plus surveys conducted by PayScale.com through April 2014 of alumni of the same schools.
