The College of the Holy Cross is one of the country’s best undergraduate academic institutions, according to the Princeton Review’s Best 380 Colleges list. The Princeton Review’s annual college guide is a list of the top 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges. Schools were ranked using eight categories that include academics, admissions selectivity, financial aid, and green, and Holy Cross received an average score of 93.
At Holy Cross, academics are “rigorous, and the main priority of students on campus,” says the Princeton Review. Holy Cross’ abundant opportunities for science research, internships, speakers, and small class sizes were also highlighted and create a “focus on shaping the student as a whole person.”
In addition, Holy Cross is ranked No. 6 for “Most Accessible Professors” and the Princeton Review reports that “professors here are dedicated to creating an exciting learning environment.” Students say that professors, “get to know you on an individual and personal level.”
Outside of the classroom, the Princeton Review reports that Holy Cross students feel a “tremendous sense of community.” Holy Cross has a “plethora of community service opportunities” and many campus clubs and organizations, with most students taking part in extracurricular activities.
The Princeton Review reports that Holy Cross’ academics are challenging and put students “in a great position to succeed.” There is a “fantastic network of alumni” that students say are very active on campus. At Holy Cross, students receive “a broad-based foundation to be successful in variety of careers” and are given “an intangible set of skills that not only prepares them for a job, but for life.”
Earlier this year, Holy Cross was named to the Princeton Review’s list of 353 Green Colleges. Holy Cross’ LEED certified buildings were highlighted along with a partnership with TransCanada that has significantly reduced the college’s carbon footprint. In addition, Holy Cross was named to the list of 200 “Colleges That Pay You Back.” Holy Cross’ committed faculty and large array of opportunities for study abroad, internships, alumni connection, and immersion trips were all noted in the guide. The College’s need-blind financial aid policy was also applauded for allowing many families to afford a Holy Cross education.
