WORCESTER, Mass. – Black Entertainment Television commentator Jeff Johnson will give a talk on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom at the College of the Holy Cross. The event is free and open to the public.
The theme of the talk will revolve around Black History Month and the challenges African-Americans still face.
Johnson appears on BET’s weekly "Rap City" program and hosts the network’s quarterly program "The Jeff Johnson Chronicles," addressing contemporary social issues facing the black community. A social activist, minister, public speaker and leadership trainer, he also is working to increase the nation’s young voter turnout as national director for the America Votes Young Voter Project.
Johnson has been seen on CNN, MTV, and C-Span and featured in USA Today and The New York Times. Michael Eric Dyson, author and professor, says Johnson "is imaginative in his commitment and devotion to extending into the hip-hop generation the marvelous and matchless genius of our forefathers."
