Beginning Jan. 17, the 10 p.m. Mass on Thursdays in Holy Cross’ McCooey Chapel will be celebrated in Spanish.
Rev. William Reiser, S.J., professor of religious studies, will preside and preach each Thursday evening. All members of the Holy Cross community are invited to participate in this Mass. English-Spanish bilingual guides to the texts of the Mass will be available for those who are unfamiliar with the Spanish texts.
“It is a great opportunity to celebrate Mass in the language used by an increasingly large number of Catholics in the United States as well as around the world,” says Paul Covino, associate chaplain and director of liturgy at Holy Cross.
This new weekly Mass in Spanish complements the monthly Mass in American Sign Language as well as the many liturgies in English in the College chapels at Holy Cross. Masses in ASL this semester will be at 7 p.m. in the McCooey Chapel on Jan. 24, Feb. 21 and April 8. Rev. Joseph Bruce, S.J., ’73 will preside and preach.
