Finding a job after graduation can be an incredibly stressful undertaking for any recent college grad. Now, finding employment has become nearly impossible for some international students left in a legal limbo due to recent changes in immigration policy.
Christina Chen, Holy Cross’ Assistant Dean of International Students, told Boston NPR station WBUR that a significant delay in the application process for visas commonly used by international students following graduation has greatly impacted their ability to begin new careers. WBUR reports that many have had to postpone their start dates and some even lost their positions.
Chen, along with administrators from other universities quoted in the story, is concerned by the impact this burden will have on students currently studying abroad in the United States.
"We have a climate right now that is very unfriendly and stressful for international students," Chen said.
