Recent College of the Holy Cross alumnus Jeffery Reppucci ’14, Colette Houssan ’15 and members of the Working for Worcester team were featured on WCVB-TV for their recent project at the Worcester East Middle School. Reppucci and his team of volunteers were able to revitalize a once unused locker room in disrepair and transform it into a dance studio and recreation area for students. Reppucci looked to local professionals for their expertise on a project of this scope and then empowered dozens of volunteers to get the job done. The students at the middle school are thrilled to have a space that they can now practice yoga, dance, and play games.
Working for Worcester also set its sights on an outdoor park to transform in close proximity to the school. They were able to provide much needed landscaping to the park as well as supply and install recreational play equipment. “Give people 60 rakes, amazing things happen” Reppucci stated. Colette Houssan ’15 remarked “I'm from Worcester. It made me re-fall in love with my city, and it's something I'll never forget.” Since its inception two years ago, Working for Worcester has raised more than $200,00 and deployed 1600 volunteers to complete 37 projects across the City which include: installation of basketball courts, baseball fields, community gardens, and playground spaces throughout the city of Worcester.
