The following films will be shown in the Seelos Theater at the College of the Holy Cross. All films are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Boyhood”
Wed., Jan. 21: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, and Ethan Hawke. Filmed over the course of 12 years with the same cast, “Boyhood” is a coming-of-age story seen through the eyes of a child named Mason.
“A Walk Among the Tombstones”
Fri., Jan. 23 and Sat., Jan. 24: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated R. Starring Liam Neeson, Dan Stevens, and David Harbour. A private investigator is hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife.
“Calvary”
Wed., Jan. 28: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Brendan Gleeson, Chris O'Dowd, and Kelly Reilly. After he is threatened during a confession, a good-natured priest must battle the dark forces closing in around him.
“November Man”
Fri., Jan. 30 and Sat., Jan. 31: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated R. Starring Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, and Olga Kurylenko. An ex-CIA operative is brought back in on a very personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former pupil.
“Gone Girl”
Wed., Feb. 4: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, and Neil Patrick Harris. With his wife's disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent.
“Lucy”
Fri., Feb. 6 and Sat., Feb. 7: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated R. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. A woman turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
“A Most Wanted Man”
Wed., Feb. 11: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, and Daniel Brühl. A Chechen Muslim illegally immigrates to Hamburg where he gets caught in the international war on terror.
“The LEGO Movie”
Fri., Feb. 13 and Sat., Feb. 14: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG. Starring Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, and Alison Brie. An ordinary Lego construction worker is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant.
“Dear White People”
Wed., Feb. 18: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Tyler James Williams, Tessa Thompson, and Kyle Gallner. The film chronicles the lives of four black students at an Ivy League college.
“Get on Up”
Fri., Feb. 20 and Sat., Feb. 21: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Chadwick Boseman, Nelsan Ellis, and Dan Aykroyd. A chronicle of James Brown's rise from extreme poverty to become one of the most influential musicians in history.
“Pride”
Wed., Feb. 25: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Dominic West. Gay activists work to help miners during their lengthy strike in the summer of 1984.
“Force Majeure”
Wed., March 11: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Johannes Kuhnke, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Clara Wettergren. A family on a ski holiday in the French Alps find themselves staring down an avalanche during lunch.
“John Wick”
Fri., March 13 and Sat., March 14: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated R. Starring Keanu Reeves. An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down gangsters.
“Fury”
Wed., March 18: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, and Logan Lerman. A battle-hardened army sergeant leads a Sherman tank and a five-man crew and undertakes a deadly mission behind enemy lines.
“The Two Faces of January”
Fri., March 20 and Sat., March 21: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst, and Oscar Isaac. A thriller centered on a con artist, his wife, and a stranger who flee Athens.
“The Theory of Everything”
Wed., March 25: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, and Tom Prior. A look at the relationship between the famous physicist Stephen Hawking and his wife.
“The Judge”
Fri., March 27 and Sat., March 28: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated R. Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. Big city lawyer Hank Palmer returns to his childhood home where his father is suspected of murder.
“Tracks”
Wed., April 8: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Mia Wasikowska and Adam Driver. A young woman goes on a 1,700-mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with four camels and her faithful dog.
“Interstellar”
Fri., April 10 and Sat., April 11: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain. A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in an attempt to ensure humanity's survival.
“Birdman”
Wed., April 15: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated R. Starring Michael Keaton, Zach Galifianakis, and Edward Norton. A washed-up actor must overcome his ego and family trouble as he mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory.
“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”
Fri., April 17 and Sat., April 18: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG. Starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, and Owen Wilson. Larry unites favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever.
“Selma”
Wed., April 22: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring David Oyelowo, Carmen Ejogo, and Tim Roth. A chronicle of Martin Luther King Jr.’s campaign via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
“St. Vincent”
Fri., April 24 and Sat., April 25: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts. A young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend.
“The Imitation Game”
Wed., April 29: Showings at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, and Matthew Goode. Alan Turing tries to crack the enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 1”
Fri., May 1 and Sat., May 2: Showing at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. Katniss Everdeen is in District 13 after she shatters the games forever.
