Holy Cross Launches New Site Dedicated to Entrepreneurial Studies

Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies helps students learn about business

The College of the Holy Cross has developed a new Web site for the College's Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies. The office is the focal point for building the entrepreneurial spirit among Holy Cross students, and preparing them to compete as ethically responsible leaders in the American and global economies.

The office was established in 2006, after an expansion of prebusiness programs led the College to create a separate entity exclusively for this type of programming. David Chu is director of the office and prebusiness advisor.

The office was founded with a generous endowment bestowed by Art Ciocca ’59, chairman, CEO and owner of The Wine Group (the third largest wine company in the world, by volume). Ciocca embodies Holy Cross’ Jesuit intent to live a life of open inquiry with a sense of purpose and service to others. He began working with Holy Cross several years ago to “make students alive to the entrepreneurial concept.”

Through co-curricular and extracurricular programming, COES offerings are designed to impart entrepreneurial knowledge and skills; instill an eagerness to enter the marketplace; and expand opportunities for students by broadening and strengthening the pipeline between employers and the College.

The new site features profiles of students who have participated in COES programs; alumni who serve as instructors for the programs; timely news and features; and a clear presentation of how entrepreneurial studies is integrated in the curriculum at Holy Cross, an exclusively undergraduate, liberal arts, Jesuit institution. One of the goals of the site is to attract prospective students who would like to learn about business and thrive in a liberal arts community.

The site gives visitors and on-campus users easy ways to navigate the programs and services of COES. While the site has a distinct identity, it shares a similar look and feel with the main site.
