new initiative at the College designed to focus on the fine and performing arts in students’ academic lives and create new opportunities to infuse the arts throughout the curriculum.

“What we want to do is take the arts into economics, and into the sciences, and to actually make [students] better economists and better scientists by leveraging their creativity, and showing that the arts don’t stand apart, but that the arts are actually a central part of all the other disciplines,” said Isser.

In addition to observing Isser’s “Shakespeare Through Performance” class, “Chronicle” also highlighted a Balinese Gamelan music class and spoke with Student Government Association co-president Neema Hakim ’14. Watch the Holy Cross segment online (starts at 02:34).
