Robert Cording, the Barrett Professor of Creative Writing and professor of English at the College of the Holy Cross, will read from his newest book of poetry on Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rehm Library. His reading will be preceded by two creative writing students, James Roach ’11 and Rebecca Foerg-Spittel ’11, who will each read a sample of their prose fiction. The event, sponsored by the College’s Creative Writing Program, is free and open to the public.
Cording has published six collections of poetry: Life-list, the recipient of the 1987 Ohio State University Press/Journal award; What Binds Us To This World (Copper Beech Press, 1991); Heavy Grace (Alice James, 1996); Against Consolation (CavanKerry Press, 2002); Common Life (CavanKerry Press, 2006); and his most recent work, Walking with Ruskin (CavanKerry, 2010). In addition, his poems have appeared in numerous notable publications including The Nation, The New Yorker, Georgia Review, Southern Review, Orion, and New England Review.
Cording has been the recipient of numerous poetry grants from the Connecticut Commission of the Arts and has received fellowships in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts.
