Holy Cross Among 'Best and Most Interesting Colleges' in 'Fiske Guide'

The College of the Holy Cross has again been named “one of the best and most interesting colleges” in the country by the "Fiske Guide to Colleges."  Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the 2013 edition of the guide, profiles 319 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain.

Colleges featured in this year’s guide were selected with several broad principles in mind, including academic quality, price category and financial aid, and quality of student life on campus.  In particular, Holy Cross’ academic program was noted for its focus on "critical thinking and writing" as well as its low faculty to student ratio.  One student told Fiske, “The quality of teaching is outstanding.  Students are able to reap concrete benefits from the strong presence and availability of professors.”

The College’s Jesuit tradition of becoming "men and women for others," and the "unrivaled sense of community" at Holy Cross were also emphasized.  “The close-knit atmosphere offers students a multitude of opportunities to serve others, challenge themselves, and create lasting friendships.”
