Several national news outlets, including Bloomberg, reported last week that Joanna Geraghty '94, a sociology major at Holy Cross, has been named president and chief operating officer of JetBlue Airways Corp. In this role, Geraghty will run the day-to-day operations and oversee the airline’s commercial team, while reporting to chief executive officer Robin Hayes.
The promotion will make Geraghty "the highest-ranking woman at a large U.S. airline," according to Bloomberg. Geraghty joined JetBlue in 2005 as a director in the litigation and regulatory department and rose through the ranks to the most recent position of executive vice president for customer experience.
Geraghty, who has remained in close connection with the College and the city of Worcester throughout the years, was on hand to celebrate the launch of JetBlue's very first flight out of the city on January 26, 2014, according to NECN.
