City officials in Worcester are making sure everyone gets into the holiday spirit by transforming downtown, and the surrounding area, into a winter wonderland with a lineup of more than 10 merry events.
The “Cool Culture” series kicks off Nov. 24 with the 24th annual Festival of Crafts and ends with the city’s traditional First Night Worcester festivities to ring in the New Year.

Dec. 1
Festival of Lights
5 – 8 p.m., Worcester Common
The City of Worcester’s second annual Festival of Lights will feature a spectacular light show, variety of choral performances and horse drawn hayrides.
Dec. 9, 16, 23
A Christmas Carol
3 p.m., Foothills Theatre, 100 Front St., Worcester
Now a Foothills tradition, the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol will be performed three times for the public.
Dec. 17
Holiday Arts at the Station
12 – 5 p.m., Union Station, 2 Washington Square
The event will showcase more than 60 New England artists and crafters selling their handmade items with local musical performances from jazz to holiday favorites. Items for sale include handmade ceramics, jewelry, wood items, books and paper goods, apparel, accessories, home décor, traditional artwork, photography, and more.
Dec. 31
First Night Worcester
1 p.m. – midnight, through downtown Worcester
First Night Worcester, the largest single day celebration of the arts in Central Massachusetts, celebrates its 25th anniversary with more than 100 diverse performances and activities in 20 venues.
