WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) completed 35 of 59 passes for 407 yards and five touchdowns, to lead the Holy Cross football team to a 38-17 victory over Fordham at Fitton Field. Randolph now has a school-record 77 career touchdown passes, breaking the old mark of 72, set by Tom Ciaccio from 1988-1991. The Crusaders improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League with the victory, while the Rams fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-4 in the conference.
Holy Cross jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the 8:06-mark of the first quarter, on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Randolph to senior wide receiver Brett McDermott (Mansfield, Mass.). Later in the quarter, senior placekicker Matt Partain (Libertyville, Ill.) nailed a 22-yard field goal to make the score 10-0. Early in the second quarter, Randolph threw a four-yard scoring strike to senior tight end Ryan McGuire (Woburn, Mass.), to increase the lead to 17-0.
Fordham scored its first points of the day on its next drive, when Adam Danko kicked a 23-yard field goal. But before the half was over, Randolph threw a nine-yard scoring pass to senior wide receiver Jon Brock (Acworth, Ga.), making the score 24-3 heading into the locker room.
Holy Cross increased its lead to 38-3 in the third quarter, with Randolph tossing two more touchdown passes to Brock, of 21 yards and 25 yards. The Rams concluded the scoring with two fourth quarter touchdowns, on a seven-yard pass from John Skelton to Cody Kritzer and a 75-yard interception return by Kelvin Colbert.
Brock finished the game with eight receptions for 105 yards, while McDermott posted six catches for 93 yards. Junior linebacker Sean Lamkin (Jenks, Okla.) led the Crusader defense with eight total tackles, while junior defensive tackle Alex Carson (Atlanta, Ga.) added six tackles.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Lafayette for a 1:00 p.m. game.
