Even though the summer goes by too fast for Leila Philip, the “August migration back to campus” is a good thing, she wrote in an opinion piece published by the Boston Globe.
Philip, a professor of English at the College of the Holy Cross, wrote that the time she spends in August looking through her upcoming syllabus makes her remember why she loves teaching. “Often students come into my class unable to write the first simple assignments, but by the end of the semester they leave amazed at what they have produced,” she wrote. “Helping students discover their voice on the page is both exciting and humbling.”
