‘College graduations work around -- even embrace -- social media’

A recent Catholic News Service article about social media"s role in graduation ceremonies observes that the College of the Holy Cross will buck the trend on May 23 by giving “old-fashioned advice in a book.”

“Members of the class of 1964, celebrating their 50th reunion, put together a book for graduates aptly called: "What We've Learned: Advice From the Holy Cross Class of 1964 to the Class of 2014," according to the article.

"Some of that advice could fit in the Twitter parameters of 140 characters or less," writes the reporter.

• "Money, or being in the highest post, is not necessarily the best thing for happiness."
• "Remember your humanity in the quest for wealth and success."
• "Don't be so risk-averse that you're afraid to make mistakes, but never make the same mistake twice."
• “And to put it all in perspective, one 1964 alum wrote: ‘As proud as you are to graduate from Holy Cross, you will be even more proud in 50 years.’”

The book was a gift from the Holy Cross Alumni Association.
