Choir member Taylor '08 shares her experiences following a Northeast concert tour

America the Beautiful

Four cities. Six concerts. Seven days.

That sums up May 13 – 20 for the 41 members of the Holy Cross College choir, who traveled with director Pamela Getnick, on a Northeast concert tour, which made stops in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Almost.

As choir member Vanessa Taylor ’08, a history and medieval and renaissance studies double major from Spencerport, N.Y., shares in her journal, it all felt like a vacation (well, except for the bout of stomach illness that plagued a few members). During the trip, the choir visited national landmarks (Metropolitan Museum of Art), made requisite tourist stops (the National Zoo!), and sang in ornate venues — all while sharpening their musical abilities.
