The persistent rain from Tropical Storm Danny on Aug. 29 didn’t dampen the spirits of hundreds of Holy Cross students beginning their college careers.
It helped, of course, that they got a big welcome from the College community.
Continuing a Holy Cross tradition, students and their parents were greeted with thunderous cheers from the approximately 300 volunteers — including students from the Classes of 2010, ’11, and ’12 along with about 30 alumni — as they arrived on campus.
We spoke with some first-year students as they entered through Gate 7 at the top of the Hill and as they settled in their residence hall rooms. The 747 members of the Class of 2013 were chosen from an applicant pool of 6,652 applications.
