Six Men's Soccer Players Selected to All-League Teams

WORCESTER, Mass. – Six Holy Cross men's soccer players were named to the All-Patriot League teams, as announced by conference officials. Sophomore forward Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.), senior midfielder Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.), senior defender Jerry Dickinson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and senior defender Alejandro Melean (Miami, Fla.) were named to the All-League first team. Senior defender Kregory Hefner (Phoenix, Ariz.) and junior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) were both named to the All-League second team.

Earning his first All-League honor, Miller started in all 17 games this season and led the Crusaders in scoring with eight goals for 16 points, including three game-winners. He was named the Brine Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week two times this season, and finished the regular season ranked 70th in the nation with 0.47 goals per game.

Receiving his second career All-League honor, Andrews ranked third on the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. A starter in all 17 games, he was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Last year, Andrews was named to the All-League second team.

Starting in all 17 games, Dickinson finished the regular season tied for fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and one assist for five points, including one game-winning goal. He received his first career ECAC and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 15, after rallying Holy Cross to a 3-2 win over Northeastern, scoring two goals. This is Dickinson's first career first team honor, following last year when he was named to the second team.

Receiving his first All-League first team honor, Melean made 17 starts on defense for Holy Cross. He finished tied for fourth on the team in scoring with one goal and three assists for four points, including one game-winner.

Making 14 starts, Hefner was a strong component in the Crusaders' defense, which finished the regular season nationally ranked 20th in goals against average (0.71), 27th in save percentage (0.831), 31st in shutout percentage (0.47) and 42nd in winning percentage (0.647).

Booth started in all 17 games as Holy Cross' goalkeeper, finishing with a 9-4-4 record and seven shutouts. He ended the regular season with 64 saves and just 13 goals allowed, recording a .831 save percentage and 0.72 goals against average. In the individual NCAA rankings, Booth is ranked 24th in goals against average and 29th in save percentage.

The Crusaders will play in the upcoming Patriot League tournament from November 14-16 as the No. 3 seed, facing second-seeded American on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals. Number one seed Colgate will take on fourth-seeded Lafayette in the matinee game on Friday, starting at 4 p.m.
