On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Holy Cross men's hockey program will be raising money for the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund (MSLF) at the Hart Center during its game versus Army at 4 p.m. The fund provides educational assistance grants to the children of Massachusetts service members who were killed while deployed on Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. The team will be wearing a special edition camouflage jersey to show its support. The jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game with all proceeds going to the fund. A limited amount of special edition Holy Cross hockey camouflage t-shirts will be available for purchase.
"It's an honor for the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund to be part of the Holy Cross/Army in-game fundraiser on December 10," says fund founder Peter Trovato. "The MSLF has a very simple mission: to honor the sacrifice of fallen Massachusetts service members by providing support to their surviving children. To date, there have been over 115 service members from Massachusetts killed while serving in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom; 45 of these casualties had children; leaving 75 kids without a parent."
