On April 22 at 7:30 p.m., Ron Jarret, professor of chemistry and Dean for the Class of 2012, will give a live online lecture titled "Learning Chemistry Through Lab Demonstrations" for Holy Cross alumni, friends, and accepted students.
To show the relationship between pressure/volume and temperature of gas, Dean Jarret will use liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and fire in his demonstrations. Experiments include exploding balloons, imploding soda cans, and a homemade cork gun and illustrate the type of observations that put into motion Holy Cross' discovery approach to teaching chemistry.
At the end of the 15-minute talk, Jarret, a past recipient of the Holy Cross Distinguished Teaching award, will answer viewer questions submitted online. You may submit questions for Dean Jarret at any time during the lecture by using our chat room. Dean Jarret will also be accepting questions via Twitter (#jarret or @hcalumni), e-mail (hcalumni@holycross.edu), or Facebook.
Bookmark the online location and be sure to tune in at 7:30 p.m. on April 22nd!
This special event is presented by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Education Program in collaboration with the Office of Public Affairs.
