The Thomas P. Joyce '59 Contemplative Center, which recently opened in West Boylston, Mass., is where students, staff and faculty at the College of the Holy Cross will be able to self-reflect and take a break from the busyness of their lives, the Telegram & Gazette reports.
The article discusses how the new center will support the College’s rigorous retreat programs and welcome the 500-600 students who go on retreats each year. While on retreat members of the Holy Cross community can also “commune with nature, weave on a loom next to the fireplace, or simply soak in incredible vistas in silence,” the Telegram writes.
“I think it’s pretty countercultural, in our world today, that we want our students and staff to pause and think about who they are,” Megan Fox-Kelly, associate chaplain and director of retreats, is quoted saying. “They’re really thinking about their life, who they want to become, and what their faith means to them.”
