‘Holy Cross honors Rev. Kuzniewski with field dedication’

Telegram & Gazette

Last Friday during halftime at the Holy Cross vs. Boston University men’s lacrosse game, the College of the Holy Cross dedicated Holy Cross Field, home of the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams and the football team’s practice facility, to Rev. Anthony Kuzniewski, S.J. According to an article in the Telegram & Gazette spotlighting Fr. Kuzniewski and the dedication, the naming rights to Holy Cross Field were purchased by an anonymous donor family last fall, resulting in the newly christened “Kuzniewski Field.”

“I could not have been more surprised,” Fr. Kuzniewski told the Telegram. “I was almost in a state of disbelief. I’m very grateful to them.” Fr. Kuzniewski is a chaplain for the department of athletics, a professor of history at the College, as well as the college historian.

Fr. Kuzniewski, fondly known as “Father K,” “guides the student-athletes, encourages them, believes in them and cheers them on,” the Telegram wrote. Michael Ortlieb, men’s lacrosse senior goalie and co-captain, was quoted saying, “Our team has a very meaningful relationship with Father K…He inspires and encourages each and every one of us to be a man for others.”
