Bob Cousy ’50 is one of “five larger-than-life Worcester icons” to appear on the side of the Casey Storage Solutions building on 19 McKeon Road, facing Interstate 290, the Telegram & Gazette reports. Standing 23-feet-high, the installation of the College of the Holy Cross basketball star “peers over the back wall of Fitton Field,” and is accompanied by the Coney Island Hot Dogs neon sign and cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor, among other symbols that represent the history of Worcester.
According to the article, the murals "dress up" the building, and were a collaborative effort between Casey Storage, Kay Gee Signs and Graphics Co. of Auburn, and Worcester architect Gregory J. O’Connor. The murals “offer a welcome to Worcester” to commuters taking the curve on I-290 by the College at the Auburn line.
The mural of Cousy will be more visible to fans filling in the Holy Cross stadium once the leaves fall, the article said. “I think the murals are really nice,” Grace Halvey ’20 told the Telegram & Gazette. “They make the city more inviting.”
