Neil Fingleton ’04, the 7’8” history major and star basketball player at the College of the Holy Cross, was remembered by Boston Globe and multiple other media outlets after his death this past weekend. Fingleton, who transferred to Holy Cross in 2002, played center on the basketball team and continued on to play professionally in Europe until a persisting back injury forced him to hang up his jersey. He then turned to acting.
“During my time at Holy Cross, I never thought that someday basketball would be over for me,” Boston Globe quoted Fingleton saying in a Holy Cross Magazine story in 2011. “Holy Cross gave me the enthusiasm to express myself as a person in whatever I choose to do. Now my enthusiasm lies within acting.”
Fingleton became well-known for his roles in hits like Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, and X-Men: First Class.
