College of the Holy Cross Launches Site to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Coeducation

The College of the Holy Cross has launched a new website to serve as the central repository for information, events, news, resources and more surrounding the College’s two-year celebration of the 50th anniversary of coeducation on Mount St. James.

In September 1972, the first women enrolled at Holy Cross, lighting the way for generations to follow, women who would advance to create lives of personal and professional impact across all vocations across the globe, inspired by the foundation of a Jesuit, Catholic liberal arts education.

"We have come a long way over the last 50 years in incorporating women into many aspects of life at the College,” said Vickie Langohr, director of the gender, sexuality and women's studies concentration, associate professor of political science and co-chair of the 50th coeducation committee. “This website will be a great resource for informing the community about activities celebrating this heritage, as well as about events examining the work that still needs to be done to make sure that all women can thrive on our campus."

The site features information on upcoming events and news surrounding the celebration, which began in September 2022 and will continue through spring 2024, when the first women graduated.

The site also offers alumnae the opportunity to share reflections on their Holy Cross experience, either by noting a person who impacted their years on The Hill or by submitting photos of their favorite memories.
