‘Pope Francis calls on church to change focus’

In a recent interview with Rev. Antonio Spadaro, editor in chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, the Italian Jesuit journal, Pope Francis offered insight into his papacy, and his direction as pope. While many criticized the Pope"s comments, Rev. Thomas Worcester, S.J., associate professor of history at the College of the Holy Cross, who has written two books and currently teaches a course on the papacy, told the Boston Globe that the interview was “illuminating.”

“It’s about what his priorities are as pope, and I would say compassion trumps just about everything else,” he said.
